a swedish sewing machine was not fried in the making of this pennant banner
From A Fig in Sweden, 6 month ago Similar articles
I have been slightly petrified by all the bare walls in our newly finished basement. Like it's so intimidating to have a blank canvas that it's hard to know where or how to start. But my sadness over Sophie's boring...

I've seen little houses like this one all over the internet. I absolutely love the free motion sewing style. To me free motion sewing has a bit of an abandoned feeling... like you're throwing the idea of perfection aside and...
An old favourite

The kangaroo and I go back to Killiney Kopitiam Siglap purely for nostalgic reasons. The famous lontong has been watered down (to cater to droves of people who come for this very dish) but we would still make the hike in a cab from my folks’ place in the north. I tend to have very short stays in Singapore and don’t really have the chance to gobble hawker style food. I mean, none of my friends fancies chowing down on oily fried food without air-conditioning. Also my folks are...
Mother's Day:
From Life as we know it, 3 days ago, Similar articles
It was Mother's day in Australia this week. All the kids and the Dads were prepared something special. It was so cute hearing them secretly plotting in hushed voices, making secret cards and getting her a treat!Michael and Skye made me a beautiful card together which they coloured. Dinner was served by le chef Michael: Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and lots of roast potatoes and veggies on the side...Just mouth watering even remembering it! On Monday, at school, there was a...
We Are More Than Enough

While life has taken a busy turn, with weddings and new schools and other various boring events that would entertain no one but me (and sometimes not even me!) I couldn't let the day pass without at least throwing out a Happy Mother's Day to all the moms I know.In light of the recent Time article asking if you are mom enough, making mothers all over the internet shout about how they ARE mom enough and who needs a magazine to make them feel otherwise all I have to say is this - I don't care...
Keeping Kitchen- Pickled Onions and Fish
From Over the Tuscan Stove, 4 days ago, Similar articles
I am leaving for a week in Sicily ( I know, poor me) and leave the pantry full for my husband when I go away for any length of time. I had already made some pulled pork a week or so ago and found some lovely sweet red onions at the market and could'd resist making some pickled Mexican onions for garnish for the pulled pork. Mexican Pickled Onions I used something similar to this recipe-Â but.... Instead of parboiling the onions, since they are so sweet, I just lightly salt to pull...

I recently friended a UK based American expat named Leigh who was visiting Paris on a extended trip. We hit it off from the start. She has a cute blog and an even cuter daugheter named Lois who Maximilien took a liking to immediately. Lois doesn't speak French but that didn't keep her from making fast friends with Max. You would never believe the conversations these two had a mismash of French and English and lots of laughing and wrestling. Lois can keep up with the boys for sure....

Goya was on sale the other day for 98 yen! I used half of it with a fourth of a red bell pepper and some jakko to make kinpira using this recipe (minus the nuts). It was a little bitter, but I liked it. I'm making this again. p.s. can you believe we still have cold weather'! oh and I received this red carnation from the lady at the yakitori kiosk for buying something....hope your mother's
Condomat and Curry Wurst

On our way back to the Netherlands from our Berlin-Potsdam short holiday, we stopped by at a tank station along the highway to refuel and eat dinner. Fuel in Germany is cheaper than in the Netherlands. I guess every where else outside the Netherlands, fuel is cheaper. And on my quick stop to the loo, I found this interesting vending machine on the wall:A condomat, selling tampons, vaginal stimulation play gel, condoms of course in different flavours, and a mini vibrator. How straightforward...

Wow! It's the 8th of May already and in about 5 weeks school is over and the kids and I head off to Geneva for a little while. Time is totally flying for us at the moment, especially as this will be the first year where we actually have no "school" over the summer. Oh! that is another thing I miss about Vienna; the 365/year day-care!!! Anyway, the pollen that has been making us wheeze and itch has almost settled and the kids are healthy, the weather is starting to warm up here...
