Not Winter Yet

Not Winter Yet

From Frenchless in France, 5 month ago Similar articles

We’ve had unseasonably warm weather here in Paris and I went to the Luxembourg Gardens to get some photos of their autumn flowers and some trees that still have fall colors. The Medici fountain there is lines with mums. Closer to the other end of the fountain. I always love these urns and they almost always put in purplish mums in them each year. There’s a smaller replica of the Statue of Liberty which looks great against the yellow of the tree behind it. I always love...

17th of May Parade in Alta

From My Little Norway, Today, Similar articles

When you live in a small city everyone is a part of the parade.  That means there is only a very small crowd looking on.  So Alta has arranged a unique idea. Brown's Siding Cafe in the Blue Mountains

Brown's Siding Cafe in the Blue Mountains

From Kristin Buesing, 3 days ago, Similar articles

The last days of Autumn are coming to an end and I can feel the winter fast approaching. The mornings are way cooler than normal and it gets really cold inside the house. It's time to get the heater out. Mind you the sun is still lovely and temperatures still reach 23 degrees C. The leaves are so beautiful right now and this is the perfect time for the Blue Mountains which despite their name can be quite golden and red in Autumn. We stopped at a cafe, the Brown's Siding, for some delightful...

Berlin is Blooming

Berlin is Blooming

From Snooker in Berlin, 2 weeks ago, Similar articles

Easter Egg Tree Ah, I love spring and most of what comes with it. Here in Berlin it brings the people out. Many of us have been trapped inside for months now. The winter weather in the Hauptstadt is simply put, not pleasant. Temperatures hovering at the 0 mark (32F) for months on end, a gray blanket which serves as a sky shielding us from the sun; these things are considered normal through the harsh Berlin winter. Spring on the Spree To remain true to our Berlin heritage, the...

Early Spring at The Farm

From Correr Es Mi Destino, 3 weeks ago, Similar articles

Some days are hot, some days are cold, but we are slowly getting there'spring is on the way. The grass is green, little critters can be spotted all around the city and flowers are blooming. It will take a while to be in full spring mode, but at least winter should be behind us by now. Hopefully, I didn't just jinx it. On a nice sunny day, I went to explore part of the Central Experimental Farm, close to where I live. I usually go there for the lovely ornamental gardens but of course, it's too...

Semi annual switcheroo

Semi annual switcheroo

IMG-20120422-01275.jpg, a photo by karlakp on Flickr. Wardrobe switchout, winter to summer. This is part one, dresses and skirts. More pants and tops to come later. Argh. My summer wardrobe is substantially larger than my winter one, as I am a creature of warmth.Edit: Well, I found some of my pants but none, and I mean NONE of them fit anymore. It's rather comical how large they all are. I am going to have to find a seamstress to take them in, and that is going to be an expensive...

2012: Week 6 SNOW!

2012: Week 6 SNOW!

From MarathonMum, 1 month ago, Similar articles

This isn't the picture I uploaded to the 52weeks group on Flickr-- I went with the Royal Borough of Greenwich fireworks snap-- but I had a hard time deciding. The weekend was notable for the SNOW on Sunday, which was gone by Monday afternoon. We had a terrific time sledging in the park, and I'm thrilled to report that Thing Two's tolerance for sledding has now extended to 2 hours, up from 45 minutes last year. We're hoping for some more snow though before the end of the winter.

There is Beauty in Everything

There is Beauty in Everything

From Sietske in Beiroet, 1 month ago, Similar articles

Sandy road along the river? I went down into the valley of the Beirut River, near Rousseit el-Ballout, on Sunday. That is somewhere in the Metn/Chouf Mountains. Second picnic of the year. It is still a little early; I can see that from the length of the grass and the quantity of wildflowers. Usually we wallow around in knee high grass, with bees buzzing about. Or maybe nature is late. This winter has been short but cold. Funny to think that while I'm outdoors having a picnic in T-shirt,...

First Signs of Spring

First Signs of Spring

From Sietske in Beiroet, 1 month ago, Similar articles

Somehow, when the first backgammon players appear on the sidewalk, that's a sure sign of an upcoming spring.  They are still in their winter jackets, but the 'tawleh' is outdoors. On the right, hidden by the awning, you see someone lurking on a water pipe. Bad weather is still predicted for this week, but even though there's plenty of snow on the mountains, it's will be too warm for skiing, unless you show up on the slope at 8 A.M. And that is very unlikely to happen with an 18-year old....

Mama's going on vacation (sort of)

From Life is Good, 1 month ago, Similar articles

This weekend I'm flying to Texas for an annual Montessori conference.  I went the two years after getting my certification, 2006 and 2007.  Then life (ie: and international move + baby) got in the way, and I planned to go in 2010, I think, but then weather got in the way (remember that winter, when an ice storm decided to take over the entire eastern half of the US' So the night before I was supposed to fly to Atlanta our flight got canceled).  Then another kid, and thus this is...
