Taking the Plunge

Taking the Plunge

From Chez Loulou, 5 month ago Similar articles

Tomorrow we're moving to Normandy. Please don't think we're crazy. We've discovered that when you tell people in the south of France that you're moving to the north of France, they tend to think that you've lost it. Completely. Well, we haven't. We know about the rain and the cold, the drizzle and the damp. We understand that moving from the south of France to the north of France is unconventional. We've also discovered that most of our friends and acquaintances who think that we've...

The house is taking shape!

? The trees are still standing.  Note the wobbly/homemade ladder. ?  ? looking forward to having coffee on the balcony off our new bedroom ? ? old kitchen downstairs, new one on the left seems huge and caverous ? The house/palazzo is taking shape, very exciting!  Enormous crashes and bangs going on around my ears as I type - but no death or injury yet'!  (We are all getting good at scaling up wobbly ladders that don't look to be able to stand our weight).

Comfort Zone

From Delhi Bound, 2 days ago, Similar articles

I really like this blog ... they are doing a cool thing and they have great things to share.  Awhile back, they wrote about living outside of your comfort zone.  Click over to read their post ... When we moved to Delhi, I thought we were taking a pretty big leap to pack up and fly across the ocean, all in search of something new.  A new job for the Husb, new schools for the kiddos and a whole new lifestyle for myself. What I didn't bargain on though was a DAILY struggle of...

A Mother's day I will never forget.

A Mother's day I will never forget.

Photo from our last trip to Belle Ile, Dec 2011.  My little dreamer.   Maximilien pulled a fast one on us today. We packed up this afternoon to head to the Jardin des Plantes pour the plant festival this weekend. We planned to ride over on our bikes so we headed directly over to the bike locker. Though we didn't verbally say we were taking the bikes we walked in the opposite direction of the entrance/exit of our residence to get our bikes. Maximilien ran ahead of us like he does...

My Gorgeous Mother's Day Present(c) Amanda van MulligenFor those of you who are mothers living in the Netherlands today was hopefully a day of pampering and cuddles from your little ones, and your partner of course. It's a day to put mum in the spotlight, because let's face it most days aren't..... Mum is usually too busy running around taking care of everyone else to stop and stand in the spotlight!Mother's Day in the Netherlands is always the second Sunday of May and has been since 1925 (if...

A foodie's haven in Copenhagen: Torvehallerne KBH

A foodie's haven in Copenhagen: Torvehallerne KBH

From The Dutched Pinay, 4 days ago, Similar articles

With Noma recently taking the spotlight as the best restaurant in the world, Denmark is seriously becoming a foodie paradise. Before the Copenhagen trip, which was before Noma was again selected as the best restaurant for 2012, I earnestly checked out my options of having dinner at Noma but later on realised that my chances are regrettably very slim, i.e. getting a table at Noma is like getting invited to a presidential dinner, and secondly, since when is it nice to dine alone in a Michelen...

Sisters Working Together

Sisters Working Together

From Here There and Everywhere, 5 days ago, Similar articles

We have a mission, and that I why I am in Seattle. My sisters and I have to clean out my Mother’s condo, now that she has moved to a very elegant new living situation, with a lot of people her own age to play with. Mom has talked about this for years, but always with concern that when it came to dividing things up among the sisters there may be some greed, or that we might come to blows over the division of the possessions she is not taking with her. She came up with a system, whereas...

My 5.5 days in Germany after NYC flew by in a flash, partly because two days were really dedicated to travelling from one place to another. Highlights included: watching arty athletic performances at the Tiger Palast (as part of the kangaroo’s dad birthday treat); looking down at the beautiful Rhine River; spending one-on-one time with the father-in-law (felt nervous initially but we got along really well); being driven around the Ruedesheim countryside and taking in cute ancient...

I was so shocked, I couldn't come up with a better title for this post

From The Bold Soul, 1 weeks ago, Similar articles

Taking a walk on the lighter side today, after a week of bad news from back home (my friend with cancer is losing the battle and is now in the care of his loving wife with home hospice), French elections, Ugly Americans and blog comment battles. Time to lighten the hell up. So, for your viewing amusement (and mine), I submit the following photo: THIS... is a white radish. A RADISH. I never saw vegetables like this back in New Jersey; not even close. I mean, LOOK at this thing - it's longer...

COUNTDOWN CALENDAR with TEA COLLECTION

From Delhi Bound, 1 weeks ago, Similar articles

Years ago, I wrote for Tea Collection - a darling clothing company that marries the concept of raising global citizens with awareness about world issues and combines it with some really great clothes. Mia has just now grown out of some the darling pieces that we acquired from Tea, and it remains one of my favorites. Tea, the drink, is shared in nearly every culture around the world. Being Tea is about experiencing life together, even when we're not in the same place. It means taking the...

Grand Canyon, Arizona and the El Tovar Hotel

Grand Canyon, Arizona and the El Tovar Hotel

From Here There and Everywhere, 1 weeks ago, Similar articles

Today is a very short drive, 136 miles, and we arrive in the Grand Canyon easily before noon, taking off to take the East Rim Drive to Desert View while waiting for our hotel room in the El Tovar Hotel. We’ve heard of El Tovar for years. You’ll overhear the following conversation. There may be some variations, but it’s pretty much the same every time. “Oh! Grand Canyon! Are you staying at El Tovar'” (yes) “Oh! It’s the most wonderful hotel! We loved...
