Comfort food for this time of the year
From The Dutched Pinay, 4 month ago Similar articles
I have many comfort foods but for this time of the year and just particularly now, I am digging this:?Fourme d'Ambert' blue cheese and ?Brin de Paille' soft cheese. I normally take ?Chaumes' for soft cheese because its stronger. I like strong cheese, the stronger it is, the better.Last night I paired the two French cheeses with red wine and dried stick sausages from Huls, and today, I paired them with seaweed and of course a glass of red wine. I cannot get enough!

Spring weather on the island
From Expat Travels, Today, Similar articles
Spring has finally arrived in Victoria. This was long awaited since last year the weather wasn't all that warm and with my luck I had that time off to enjoy the cold weather. Now that spring is in full gear, we are enjoying our evenings outside playing at the park or exploring outside. Cammie seems to enjoy being outside from the second she wakes up to the second she goes to sleep. She usually points to the door or insists on sitting there until we get her outside. Of...
Beer, mustard and cheese bread recipe, inspired by Welsh Rarebit
From Nami-nami, Today, Similar articles
Are you familiar with the British pub classic, Welsh Rarebit? It's a slice of toasted bread topped with a melted cheese, mustard and beer concoction. Excellent, if rich, comfort food. Those three flavourings are all present in this soft yeast bread that's been a favourite for years - I even included a recipe in my first cookbook. It's soft and tender, with plenty of gutsy flavours going on. It's obviously not a bread that you'd toast and slather with jam, but with some extra cheese or a slice...

Diversity: No Holding Back the Tide
From Here There and Everywhere, Today, Similar articles
From today’s AOL News/ Huffpost: So here’s the thing. In the USA, as in many countries, people study their ancestry, their bloodlines. Some people want those bloodlines to make them special, but anyone who has read history in any big-picture kind of way understands that most of history is people coming and going, waves of migration, immigration and emmigration, mostly depending on food supply, but often, too, depending on employment opportunities. Bottom line, most of it is about...
Breastfeeding in the Media (AGAIN!) - Time Magazine Cover
From Mama(e) in Translation, Today, Similar articles
I thought I'd just make very quick commentary on this week's Time magazine cover (although I don't want to engage in the "mommy war" discussion that the cover question wants to provoke, I fully agree with Katie Granju on this one, we're all "not mom enough"  at one point or another in our mothering lives). The photo didn't bother me -- although anyone who has ever done extended breastfeeding, including the mom portrayed, will know that that's just a posed shot and NOT the way we...
Half Time
From Ali Blah Blah, Yesterday, Similar articles
I did it! My first half marathon. Two hours twenty-one minutes. 99% running, 1% waiting to go to the bathroom. 10lbs lost over six months and nearly 200 miles of training runs. It has been an amazing, exhilarating and crazy journey.  The icing on the cake was feeling good and being able to enjoy the whole race, having friends cheering from the sidelines, and then running across the finish line with Anna and Lucy. What a perfect way to spend Mothers Day weekend.I'll write more when I...
Tuesday evening games-fest II
From This is Cyprus, Yesterday, Similar articles
It's nearly eight months since my good friend Joan and I, in the temporary absence of our husbands, held a five-hour 'games fest' evening. It so happens that this week, once again, our menfolk are away at the same time. So we thought we might try a re-run. Â Not that it was quite the same... for one thing, I knew I would not be able to walk even as far as the local Souvlaki Express. Â I thought I had bruised my toes badly three weeks ago. The advice and observations of various...
Curious George and the Zombies
From Expat Mom, Yesterday, Similar articles
So, today was Dante’s birthday and somehow I got confused and thought it was tomorrow and so on Monday, I thought I had lots of time to make the cake until that evening when I realized I had just one day to make it all happen. Oops. I got up on Tuesday after a long night of no sleep, feeling worn out and fuzzier than usual. I literally had problems reading recipes. Nonetheless, I made an orange cake and a banana cake and slapped them together with some chocolate orange frosting and...
I Love Falafel Sandwiches
From Londonelicious: A food blog, Yesterday, Similar articles
There. I’ve said it. I could happily eat falafel all day, every day. I don’t know why. I just like it. Texture' Hummus' Hot sauce' Yes. I was lucky today. I had an errand to run and they told me to come back in 30 minutes. So I went in search of tacos to kill some time. I thought for sure I’d find tacos somewhere. But instead I found Chickpea, just west of Damen on Chicago Ave. So I paid $4 (!!!) and had the best falafel I’ve had since Hoxton Beach on Whitecross Street...
