Back to school

From Not wrong, just different, 1 weeks ago, Similar articles

I don't know if you remember, but way back last August, I enrolled to do a Masters in Christian Ministry. I've just completed the first year. It's the big casualty of our move back to the UK. I would love to finish it, not only for the content per se, but also for the sense of achievement that would be. I have occasionally fantasised about graduating - gown, hat, certificate, that kind of thing -

We ironed out the financial aid mess that was stopping us from making our move down here on Tuesday and packed up to leave Washington on Thursday evening. Stuart drove through the night whilst the baby slept which was really a perfect idea and if we need to go anywhere far away any time soon (let's hope not) that's how we'll travel. We stopped in Meridian, Idaho at about 7am and went to our hotel to clean up and get a few hours of sleep. Check out was at noon so it was a luxury stop and a bit...

children's day

From Our Adventures in Japan, 1 weeks ago, Similar articles

Yesterday was Children's Day, a.k.a. Boy's Day so it was nice to be able to get together with my host-family's children. 5 of them ranging in ages from 11 to 3, talk about noisy and fun. The weather was beautiful, sunny but not too hot. After our bbq, we had to move because another family was reserved for the spot. I've noticed that Japan often has reserved areas for these types of things,

My picks for Queen's Day 2012 in Utrecht

My picks for Queen's Day 2012 in Utrecht

From The Dutched Pinay, 2 weeks ago, Similar articles

Sunday night and feeling a bit lethargic (in other words, lazy), we agreed not to head off to the Koninginnenacht (Queen's Night) festivities in Utrecht. But this morning, we managed to move our bums and joined Utrecht for Koninginnedag (Queen's Day, 30 April). This is a yearly nationwide event in celebration of the Queen's birthday here in the Netherlands. So what's in store during this day' Street party, live music, stage shows, lots of drinking, dressing up in orange, spontaneous street...

changes

From Our Adventures in Japan, 2 weeks ago, Similar articles

Do you change the layout of where you live' I think we've rearranged our apartment too many times to count. Before going to Hawaii in March, I had our television placed in front of our big glass doors (something like this photo). Only problem with this is that during the summer, we get lots of sun in this area. Not good for electrical stuff. So, I told Satoshi we should move the

@ Sheraton Brussels Airport

From de kooijtjes, 2 weeks ago, Similar articles

Cold, strong icy wind and it's raining. I don't mind cold weather but with only few warm clothes left it's not much fun even in the beautiful ancient streets of Ghent. After Rob's goodbye lunch we will move to the Sheraton Hotel at the Brussels airport for our last night here in Belgium. It's the same place we waved goodbye to Europe almost 8 years ago before our American adventure!

Charles Taylor guilty of aiding & abetting, but not command & control or joint criminal enterprise

From Plantains and Palm Trees, 3 weeks ago, Similar articles

Charles Taylor listens to verdict. The Special Court for Sierra Leone delivered their verdict this morning. It took more than two hours to read, and involved first ruling on the facts of the case, then the role Taylor played, and then the legal findings. Taylor sat behind his legal team, periodically taking notes. Judge Lussick read the verdict in a monotone voice, pausing only to sip his water or move on to a new section. The ruling was measured. The court found support for some prosecution...

“Think you can move on'” AdventureMan asks me, and no, no, I am not ready to move on. I am still mad. So I am going to tell you about it so it will not happen to YOU, and then I will move on. Outside of Carlsbad, I used my handy-dandy iPhone to find out if there were any Marriott Hotels in Carlsbad, and there was a Fairfield Inn and Suites, one of the Marriott Brands. We like Marriotts. We like their culture of CLEAN and SERVICE. So I googled “Fairfield Inn and Suites in...

Live Music

Live Music

From Frenchless in France, 3 weeks ago, Similar articles

On the weekends in Paris, if the weather is nice, you can find musicians all over playing or singing their music hoping to make a little money and maybe sell a CD. I’ve seen this guy all over Paris and even saw him on TV. I guess he has some sort of thing with wheels to move the piano around. He was very good. This group was at the entrance of the Palais Royal. This man was singing soprano as you can hear. He was very intense.

How to move your stuff in Paris

From The Bold Soul, 3 weeks ago, Similar articles

First, buy some cartons and some tape. Lots and lots of both. Some bubble wrap would be a good thing, too. Lots and lots of it. I am now brilliant at making cartons. Could put it on my resumé. Build the cartons and use the tape. Put your stuff in the cartons (use bubble wrap where necessary). Curse and swear in your native language when the tape gets all tangled up (unless you also had the foresight to buy one of those great packing-box tape dispensers - which this time, we DID because I...
