Christmas, Guatemalan Style

From Correr Es Mi Destino, 1 month ago, Similar articles

Christmas when traveling is always a bit of a hit-and-miss. In 2001, we spent it in San José, Costa Rica, in a hotel full of cockroaches but Feng managed to make a nice pasta dinner. In 2003, we were in Antigua, Guatemala, and the atmosphere was very festive. In 2008, we were in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica?not so festive but nice location. Last year, we had our Christmas dinner in 1776 and I learned to joggle with fire sticks in Rainbow Beach, Australia. Yesterday, we spent the day...

Drip, drip, drip

From Mama(e) in Translation, 3 month ago, Similar articles

It's raining here and today, because of the rain, I was reminded of how one of our "crumbling Hondas" -- the "younger" one, the Odyssey -- is leaking oil. Every spot I parked, even if just a few minutes, had a shiny "rainbow" colored stain mixed with the rain water coming from under it when I came back to the car.It wasn't my imagination either. When I got home, I opened the garage and moved the car inside for a couple of feet so I could check the oil (we try to check often and constantly add...

Requiem for Setsuden

From Geisha, Interrupted, 3 month ago, Similar articles

Live in Tokyo long enough, and you will start to think that neon is a naturally occurring color of the rainbow.  Or at least you would have, before the power saving campaign that followed the Fukushima meltdown, before setsuden.   In the immediate aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami, when people started to seriously consider shutting down Japan`s nuclear reactors, I thought all that talk sounded pretty idealistic.  Nuclear power was obviously dangerous, but then again so...

I swear I'm not making this up

From The Bold Soul, 3 month ago, Similar articles

We just had a whopper of a freak thunderstorm: bolts of lightening, downpours, hail and so much rain the staircase behind Sacre Coeur turned into a waterfall. Then, the sun came out... And another stunning complete double rainbow! I will miss this view when we move someday. This is why our rent is too high... But days like this it sure seems worth it.

Stockholm Pride 2011

From The Dutched Pinay, 3 month ago, Similar articles

When I was in Stockholm last August it was ?Stockholm Pride' meaning it was gay pride parade slash festival.Friday night -- the guy at the hotel reception who earlier checked me in was gay, and his colleague who was manning the bar and was Filipino by the way, told me jokingly that tomorrow Saturday the gay colleague will become totally crazy during the pride event. It will be his day so to speak. Not sure what he meant by crazy' Painting the town with gay colours like rainbow perhaps, or...

Doublé

From The Bold Soul, 4 month ago, Similar articles

I think this is quite possibly the most magnificent rainbow I've ever seen in my entire life. I could see the entire rainbow, end to end, and as much as I like how the photos turned out (and I did zero photo editing because I wanted to show them as-is), they don't even scratch the surface of the beauty of the real thing. When this appeared yesterday off our balcony, it was near the end of a rather tiring and stressful day where I'd been concerned about the health of someone I love very much....

Chasing Rainbows

From Ya' All Right?, 5 month ago, Similar articles

The 365 Project  #256 We finally had a bit of rain to go along with all of the wind we're getting.  As I was driving home today I spotted this faint rainbow, just barely visible on the horizon.  I waited around to see if it would get any brighter; it didn't.  I'm still working on the Norway pictures, but might not get them done tonight.  Seem to be coming down with a sore throat
