Business Ideas for Women Expats

Here are some ideas for businesses that you could set up abroad…

•    Catering To The Expatriate Community

If you have a sizeable expatriate community in your new country then providing them with a service that caters to their specific needs is a good idea, for instance a catering service or restaurant for authentic French cuisine or a pub where they can meet up.

•    Catering To The Local Community

Food is something that transcends geographical boundaries which is why bagels and croissants may be a great breakfast ideas to the local community.  Establish an eatery that supplies specialty food products to take advantage of a great market opportunity.

•    Yoga and Massage Therapy

More and more people today are investing in their own well-being so if you have expertise in anything that can make people feel good about themselves then you could set up a venture in that area.

•    Consultancy

This one is for those who don’t like the idea of working round the clock…the options are numerous…personal shoppers, educational consultants, counselors, financial experts and whatnot.  Your experience and qualifications are the critical factor here.

•    Writing

The internet has opened up several avenues for writers that tool in various genres.  You could become a travel writer or guide book author.  A similar option could have you running your own website targeted at expatriates, business owners, tourists or any other niche of internet users.

•    Culinary Classes

If running a restaurant or catering service seems overwhelming, then teaching people to cook can be an exciting and profitable venture.  People all over the world are eager to learn different cuisines and all you have to do is share your culinary skills with an eager bunch of pupils.

•    Art and Crafts

Are you an avid crafter?  Do you enjoy painting?  Then you could consider teaching a thing about any of these to people who are interested in art and craft.

•    Hairdressers

Considering the general obsession with appearances, the beauty business is something expatriates often find rewarding.  Be it hair, makeup or skin, helping others look and feel good is a lucrative home based business.  Some minimum investment in electronic equipments and other requirements is all you need to turn your dream of owning a business abroad in to reality.

•    Foreign Language instructors

If you are good with people and languages then this is a simple idea to implement.  You could also consider teaching online.

•    Vending Local Arts and Crafts

Take the arts and crafts of your home country and set up shop in your new country.  That way you will make a difference both ways…to artisans in your home country and people abroad who would like a slice of foreign culture in their living rooms.

With so many options, most of which are low investment, all you need is enthusiasm, commitment and the energy to ensure that you succeed as a business woman abroad.
