Curious George and the Zombies

So, today was Dante’s birthday and somehow I got confused and thought it was tomorrow and so on Monday, I thought I had lots of time to make the cake until that evening when I realized I had just one day to make it all happen. Oops. I got up on Tuesday after a long night of no sleep, feeling worn out and fuzzier than usual. I literally had problems reading recipes. Nonetheless, I made an orange cake and a banana cake and slapped them together with some chocolate orange frosting and...

My Middle Child

From Expat Mom, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Dante was thrown violently into the position of middle child when Dominic was born and I think most middle children are resentful of the fact that they were once the baby. However, when Dante met Dominic one on one in the hospital and Dominic grabbed his finger, it was head over heels love. I kept waiting for him to get jealous and angry about the new baby . . . but it didn’t happen. He still loves Dominic just as much as that first day, if not even more, and he is constantly snuggling...

The Nightmare Cake

From Expat Mom, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Birthday cakes are a big deal around here. The boys get to pick what they want for a cake and I do my best to make it. Granted, they have only been old enough to choose their cake theme for a couple of years, but it’s still a big deal. My mother did this for us and it was one of the big highlights of the birthday, along with a breakfast date with Dad and eating cake for breakfast. So, I’ve continued the tradition. Now, my cakes aren’t always perfect (ok, never, but they...

What Goes In

From Expat Mom, 2 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I’ve discussed food in the last post, but this time I want to share some of the things I have learned over the years about food. I realized at one point in my life that I was a food addict. Unfortunately, the best way for me personally to quit an addiction is to go cold turkey. That doesn’t work so well with food. I did try though. There were months where I ate nothing but a few spoonfuls of yogurt and a hard candy or two. And it worked to a certain point, but of course, I...

Why Are We Fat'

From Expat Mom, 2 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Since having Dominic, I’ve lost a lot of weight. I lost quite a bit during the pregnancy, but gained it back due to the postpartum pre-eclampsia . . . but have since dropped that again. Even so, I’m still in the obese category and obviously want to change that. One of the biggest issues with being so fat is that it’s HARD to lose weight and it’s easier to be lazy. We recently discovered the program “I Used to be Fat” which follows teens who leave high...
