So, flying tomorrow morning to the Caribbean, to Cuba. It is going to be a long flight. This trip just came in at the right time. I badly need a longer break right now. Seriously. I need to relax and think of NOTHING. Yes, think of nothing. Ahhh, that sounds so peaceful. No stress at all.I am also tired of the cold weather here.Nevertheless, I will be back in the Netherlands at the end of the month but will be blogging during the trip when able.Travel Period: May 2012

Nyhavn Postcard

Nyhavn or New Haven is unquestionably Copenhagen's or Denmark's best landmark. It's a lovely and lively place to be. Many would probably argue that for the country's landmark it should be the Little Mermaid. Honestly, I don't quite understand what's all the fuss about the plain bronze female statue.I have more pictures of Nyhavn and will post them later, on a separate entry once I am done polishing them. Polishing a picture for me is very basic'Picasa style, adjusting light and darkness and...

A foodie's haven in Copenhagen: Torvehallerne KBH
From The Dutched Pinay, 5 days ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles
With Noma recently taking the spotlight as the best restaurant in the world, Denmark is seriously becoming a foodie paradise. Before the Copenhagen trip, which was before Noma was again selected as the best restaurant for 2012, I earnestly checked out my options of having dinner at Noma but later on realised that my chances are regrettably very slim, i.e. getting a table at Noma is like getting invited to a presidential dinner, and secondly, since when is it nice to dine alone in a Michelen...

Condomat and Curry Wurst
From The Dutched Pinay, 6 days ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles
On our way back to the Netherlands from our Berlin-Potsdam short holiday, we stopped by at a tank station along the highway to refuel and eat dinner. Fuel in Germany is cheaper than in the Netherlands. I guess every where else outside the Netherlands, fuel is cheaper. And on my quick stop to the loo, I found this interesting vending machine on the wall:A condomat, selling tampons, vaginal stimulation play gel, condoms of course in different flavours, and a mini vibrator. How straightforward...

Potsdam: New Chambers and Church of Peace at Sansoucci Park
From The Dutched Pinay, 6 days ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles
New Chambers Palace at the Sansoucci Park in Potsdam.Potsdam is probably the perfect side trip from Berlin. It is an imperial little city oozing with history, majesty and stately architecture. It is where the Royals and the Kaisers once lived. Not very far from Berlin and just less half an hour by car or via a direct connection with the S-Bahn, this city also has a pretty old centrum and is home to the famous Sansoucci Palace and Park.Sansoucci Park I have to say is a world of its own. If it...

View of Greece from the airplane

It looks like we ?might' go back to the Greek Islands this summer again. For sure we'll pick another island that we haven't been to this time. There's so many to choose from! The pictures above were taken above mainland Greece, in Kalamata last year during summer. We took off from Zakynthos Island and picked up some passengers in Kalamata en-route to Amsterdam. This flight was so delayed because there was another airplane in Kalamata Airport that had technical troubles. On top of the confirmed...

Another quick lunch in Amsterdam: Pilaf basmati salad
From The Dutched Pinay, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles
Because I am on the road most of the times I get the opportunity to eat lunch outside. Well, I do not make this a habit really because I usually bring my own food. However, there are times that I am too busy to pack my lunch so I rely on supermarkets, or depending on location, a quick lunch in a cafe.Salad grains for lunch: Whole grain pilaf and basmati rice with pistachios, raisins, chickpeas and dill herbs, and some fresh mint hot tea. Salad is a bit dry but I like it so 4 stars out of 5....

Dinner at Restaurant Trouw
From The Dutched Pinay, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles
Me and a good old friend Herr Philippe that I haven't seen in almost a year had dinner at Trouw Restaurant in Amsterdam last Friday. I found the restaurant, and a bunch of other cool places that I will soon be checking out, by chance online. Restaurant Trouw might not be located in the heart of Amsterdam but it sure is a restaurant worthy of a visit. Philippe and I were so glad we went here. We love their scrumptious refreshing food. This place is best for those who are into healthy eating or...

Potsdam: Old Town's main shopping street
From The Dutched Pinay, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles
We didn't really had much time to do some serious sightseeing in Potsdam. To be honest, I was not very pleased about it because this town has so many exquisite treasures. From beautiful garden parks, amazing palaces, monuments, ancient roman baths, historical buildings and many more. Potsdam equals royalty, it's like Windsor in Britain and Sintra in Portugal. Up until 1918, Potsdam is the residence of the Prussian Kings and German Kaisers. But we were pressed with time and our original plan...

Potsdam: Nauen Gate and the Dutch Quarter
From The Dutched Pinay, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles
The Nauener Tor (Nauen Gate) was built in 1755.Like many European medieval cities, Potsdam as well is protected by a stone city gate. The ?Nauen Gate' (Nauener Tor) is one of the 3 remaining city gates in Potsdam today, and perhaps the most conspicuous, that is why it merits a post of its own.The gate is built in English Gothic Revival architecture which I find more appealing to the eyes than the usual Gothic style architecture we all know and have seen from the big and magnificent churches...
